Nations Cup 2024 Roster Policy
Eligibility of players as a first team player

-
The Nations Cup committee recognizes and differentiate players into two categories based on their tournament history: First team and Second Team players.
-
First Team players are players who took part in the international tournament as part of any national representation since the last time that national took part in any tournament.
Example: Player took part in national representation of nation X in 2022. National representation for nation X have not taken part in any tournament since then. Player is still considered to be first team player.
-
As per I.2, Players playing as representatives for different national teams, if they would be considered First Team player for one of them, they are to be considered First Team player for each of them.
-
Second team players are considered players who are not First team players.
-
First Team players may be recognised as a Second Team player, if since their last tournament which would give them First Team player status they have:
-
Changed nation they represented and were unsuccessful in becoming a national representation player.
-
Changed nation they represented and were playing for the second national representation team for that nation.
-
-
For the categorization to First and Second Team players tournaments planned for year 2024 and taking part before the Nations Cup are to be taken into account.
-
Categorization of players is based on their tournament history and not their skills, tenure or perceived experience. None of them can be used to justify the change of categorization of players.
-
The Nations Cup is intended to be a development tournament. Teams taking part in it are entitled to include in their roster up to three players from the First team.
-
Under no circumstance should more than one player from the First Team for each team be present on the pitch at the same time.
-
Each team can ask for exceptions from some of the requirements, by contacting the committee and discussing their situation individually.
